WHAT'S NEW

welcome

Lake Little Sissabagama (locally referred to as Little Siss) is located in the heart of the northwestern woods of Wisconsin between the towns of Spooner and Hayward in Sawyer County. The lake is considered by many naturalists, vacationers, DNR and lake residents to be one of the finest examples of a north woods lake due to the diverse topography and shape, clear water, sandy and gravel shores, dense coverage of pine, birch and maple trees, diverse fish and bird populations and historic cabins and lodges. The association members strive for environmental preservation and high quality recreation in their use and treatment of the many islands, lake and shoreline.

The name Sissabagama is a Native American term roughly translated it is believed to mean: Lake of Many Bays. Little Sissabagama was named first and later the lake to the east was named Big Sissabagama.
